The Port Douglas region of far North Queensland, has inspired, and is home, to many talented artists across all mediums. Our not-for-profit organisation seeks to explore the region's spirit through visual art; to showcase, nurture, and celebrate the artists of the Douglas Shire.
Our unique Shire is home and gateway to The Great Barrier Reef and the World Heritage Daintree Rainforest. Port Douglas Artists' Inc. has worked in conjunction with the Douglas Shire Council over the past few of years to create and run exhibitions once a year at the Douglas Shire Community Hall and the annual Go Troppo show at the Sugar Wharf during Port Douglas Carnivale, with the view to creating a contemporary exhibition space which will serve as our temporary Regional Art Gallery.
Port Douglas Artists Inc. are filling a cultural gap for locals, businesses and tourists in the area; serving the artistic needs of the community, and importantly, securing the future of the visual arts in the Shire.
Port Douglas Artists Inc. hopes that one day a permanent space can be created for visual arts in this most beautiful and unique Shire. Donations are welcome to this cause, and we welcome all creative or social support to the group.
