David Starlyte

My career as a graphic designer influences the graphic elements in my work. I studied both architecture, illustration and graphic design including 3-years at the University of Cape Town, in the city where I grew up. After moving to Australia. I qualified as a Naturopath and graduated with Masters Degrees in Mental Health and Applied Buddhism.

My paintings explore the subconscious realm via colourful impasto forms, texture and form. I work both in oil and acrylic expressing a range of expressionistic, and abstract forms and emotion. I explore sensuous forms in my painting style, less about realism and more about my feelings. Seeing through the eyes of imagination, Fauvism has been a strong influence on the freedom of my strokes. My goal is to see beyond the surface level of life and expand the consciousness of the viewer.
