Pauline Bladin

My love of pottery began over 40 years ago when I bought my neighbours old pottery wheel. I taught myself the basics of wheel throwing by reading old pottery books and with a lot of trial and error it’s brought me to get me to where I am today. Over theyears my work has been exhibited in various galleries in Brisbane, the Gold Coast,

Toowoomba and here in Port Douglas.

What brings me the greatest joy about the pottery process is making a piece from a ball of clay and then painting the blank white surface with underglaze colourbrushwork. I love to create functional pieces of pottery that are designed to bring beauty and joy to everyday use. I’ve always been influenced greatly by centuries old blue and white pottery designs from Europe and Asia, and this influence is reflected in many of my designs. It is important to me that those pieces feel as good as they look and that my pieces will be used and enjoyed in the home for many years to come.
