Janet Morris is a visual artist based in Port Douglas. Her work is shaped by time spent within the coastal and underwater environments of the Great Barrier Reef and surrounding rainforest, where observation gives way to memory, feeling, and atmosphere.
She paints coastal and underwater landscapes, along with small still life florals, moving between expansive, immersive scenes and quiet, intimate studies of form, light and colour.
Working in oils, she builds layered, fluid surfaces that explore light, stillness, and transformation. Her work reflects a quiet dialogue between concealment and expression, and an ongoing awareness of the fragility of the natural world.
